Meet & Greet at ReportingMD: Swornim Bhandari

By Jessica Raymond

Swornim Bhandari, SQL Application Developer

Describe a typical day at ReportingMD:

“I start with checking emails and a to-do list every morning. Then I attend a daily stand-up meeting to collaborate with the development team. We discuss the upcoming sprint [a set period of time during which specific work has to be completed and made ready for review], what we have achieved, what we are struggling with and what we are going to do that day. Then, I begin working on my tasks, coding, and developing. As I am new to the healthcare space, I also spend time learning with my team members. I am very grateful to be part of such a helpful team.”

What did you want to be when you grew up?

“When I was a kid, at one point I wanted to be a doctor. However, it was not to save lives: I was very good at writing cursive, and I wanted to write prescriptions for people since that’s one of the only professions where cursive writing is utilized.”

What are your hobbies?

“I love to play and watch soccer. It has been a part of my life forever, I spent most of my childhood playing soccer with my friends on the school’s team. It never mattered how tired I was after school or work, it always excited and yet relaxed me. Soccer has also just taught me teamwork and how to create a competitive spirit in myself.”

What is your favorite movie?

“My favorite Hollywood movie would have to be “Forrest Gump”. No matter how many times I watch it, it’s still fun. It has superb acting, a great cast. This movie makes me think more about my close ones and makes me realize that life is so beautiful. This movie teaches us not to give up in tough times and to rely on that inner strength.”

What is your dream vacation?

“I love adventure so I would have to say something like Tanzania. I think that it would be amazing to experience that difference culture. I would love to go to Mount Kilimanjaro Park and go on a few safaris.”

If you could have dinner with anyone dead/alive, who would it be?

“It would be with the late king of Nepal, Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. He along with his family died in an attack in his palace. I was only five when it happened but I do remember the whole country being in mourning. He was very loved and respected. To this day, no one knows exactly what happened. I would love to ask him about his life as a royal and maybe ask what happened during the attack.”
